Henderson & Kane General Store will host its 1-year Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, July 13th, 2019
HOUSTON, Texas - Henderson & Kane General Store, an independent general store dedicated to celebrating and promoting local products, celebrates its first birthday on Saturday, July 13th (Houston Day), 2019. The pioneering operation opened its doors one year ago and has uniquely provided residents of the Old 6th Ward neighborhood local goods and produce, freshly baked pastries, espresso, and house-smoked meats.
Over the last year, Henderson & Kane has grown to house over 50 local brands from 44 farms steaks to Chilesquiles salsa, local honey from Nando’s to farm fresh bacon & eggs from Three Sister Farms. It’s most recent addition of gelato from Sweet Cup. Stay tuned for a specialty gelato using their housemade Tangy Tamarind barbecue sauce!
Originally a sleepy corner store, tucked into the bijoux neighborhood of Houston’s historic Old Sixth Ward, Henderson & Kane has become a destination unto itself. Husband and wife team John and Veronica Avila were inspired by the neighborhood bodega John would frequent while helming the opening of Morgan’s Barbecue in Brooklyn, reimagined
and executed with a distinctly southern influence.
To better serve their community, they welcomed input as they were building their offerings, and have grown to include not only their small batch handcrafted barbecue, but also groceries sourced from Texas farmers and ranchers, local craft beer, sustainable wines, gifts, prepared food, vintage-styled picnic packs and variety of Southern comfort food for takeaway. Build your own six packs can be enjoyed at home, or on site if you can’t resist.

Monday - Thursday 6:00am- 9pm, Friday 6am - 10pm, Saturday - 7am - 10pm and Sunday 7am- 8pm.
