Nam Thai Restaurant and Bar in Kemah, Texas

I’m always looking for new places to enjoy and my friend Kelli highly recommended a Thai restaurant so I had to check it out!

Nam Thai Restaurant and Bar is located in Kemah, Texas just steps from the Kemah Boardwalk. The interior is adorned with a beautiful chandelier that is the centerpiece of the restaurant.

This two story restaurant has the feel of a historic home but includes a large bar area, downstairs dining and a large staircase that leads to the upstairs dining.

For appetizers, we ordered the Chicken Wings and Gyoza Pork Dumplings. The Chicken Wings are marinated in Thai seasonings, then deep fried and served with a sweet chili sauce. The Gyoza Pork Dumplings were pan fried and served with a ginger dipping sauce. Both were delicious! The wings were fried to perfection leaving them crunchy on the outside with moist chicken inside. The dumplings were perfectly cooked and full of flavor. While we were eating our appetizers they brought out four different sauces which we sampled with our appetizers and they were fantastic and not too spicy.

For our main course, we ordered the Tofu Pad Thai and Basil Chicken. The Tofu Pad Thai consisted of rice noodles stir fried with eggs, bean sprouts, green onions, ground peanuts and tofu and the Chicken Basil consisted of chicken, onion, bell pepper, and sweet basil sautéed in a house spicy sauce. Both were delicious and we couldn’t stop raving about how great they tasted.

Many people think that Thai food is spicy but it doesn’t have to be if you don’t like the heat. My wife does not enjoy spicy food so she asks them not to add any heat whereas I like my dishes to have some heat so I always ask them to give it a medium heat.

Everything we had was so flavorful and cooked to perfection. We could barely finish our meals since the portions were huge but we couldn’t say no to the Mango Sticky rice (A Thai favorite) which consists of sweet coconut sticky rice served with yellow mango.

At first glance the mango sticky rice looks simple but when you taste the dish it is amazing! I can’t tell you how much we loved this dessert. The sticky rice and mango together was a perfect match and I suggest you order it when you go. We also enjoyed a Thai Tea that was out of this world! It was a mixture of Thai tea, condensed milk and sugar. It was a great way to end our fabulous meal.
