Watching Chef Felipe Gonzales cook and plate his creations is mesmerizing and the detail and care that goes into every dish is incredible. As the Executive Chef of The Moody Gardens Hotel, Spa and Convention Center located on Galveston Island, Chef Gonzales enjoys the opportunity to share his love of food with guests everyday. In his career, which spans over 30 years, he has been able to continuously create amazing culinary experiences for patrons throughout Houston and San Francisco.
Growing up in a family of restaurateurs in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Chef Gonzales began his love of all things food at a young age. He attended the California Culinary Academy and began his career of creating menus for large and small scale events and sharing his love of cooking with everyone who eats his food.
Chef Gonzales is currently the driving force behind Shearn’s Seafood and Prime Steaks located in the Moody Gardens Hotel. Located on the 9th floor with large picture windows that highlight majestic views of the Gulf of Mexico, Shearn’s and Chef Gonzales are serving up an elegant dining experience that is one of the best you can find on the island.
Chef Gonzales recently created a new menu for brunch. The fine dining experience that can be found at Shearn’s everyday is now being offered at Sunday brunch where you can find menu items such as Gulf Shrimp and Grits and Bananas Foster French Toast.
